Risk of load shedding today

Posted in Latest News

Eskom said in a statement this morning that the risk of load shedding remains for today. Load shedding will only be implemented if absolutely necessary.

Eskom did not implement load shedding yesterday (7 March). According to Eskom this is due to some generating units returning to service.

Eskom said the power system remains tight and vulnerable and that load shedding could be implemented at short notice should there be a shift in plant performance. This could include a significant loss in generating plant due to unplanned technical breakdowns.

“We continue to encourage residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly during this period. Please switch off geysers as well as all non-essential lighting and electricity appliances to assist in reducing demand.”

Matlosana Municipality customers are advised to keep checking their load shedding schedules available on Klerksdorp Record’s website.
For Eskom customers, these schedules are available on the Eskom website ( Eskom customers can also contact the customer contact centre at 0860 037 566.
