Parolee charged with murder
Lentswe, Jouberton - A parolee was arrested for the rape and murder of the 26-year-old Mapule Motlhaoleng in ext 11 the night of September 16.
Mapule survived the attack on her where her brutalised body was set alight by her rapist but she eventually succumbed to her injuries on October 30. She was laid to rest on November 4.
Col Adele Myburgh, police spokesperson, confirmed that a case of murder was added to the charge sheet of the man who accompanied the friendly Mapule to the tavern on that fateful night. Mapule was a popular girl and did not think it strange that the friendly man who lives in the same street as her walk with her to the tavern.

Father still suing police
Lentswe, Jouberton - An employee of the municipality who was allegedly beaten up by the police when he went to the local police station to enquire about the well-being of his teenage son and who was arrested, is still suing the police.
Daniel Mmane (52) and his son both appeared in the magistrate’s court in Klerksdorp on October 19. The incident happened when Daniel went to station, after his son, Keorapetse (19), was arrested for carrying a dangerous weapon.

Three incidents of stock theft, 9 arrested
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Stock theft is a growing problem in the province with three separate incidents last week, resulting in nine arrests. In the first incident, on November 15, 160 sheep were stolen from a farm in Hartbeesfontein. Four suspects were arrested, including a previous employee. It was a joint effort by Hartbeesfontein police and the local Safety Watch and all the sheep were recovered.
