Lentswe, Kanana - Phodiso Worship hosted a guest from the SA College of Applied Psychology in Gauteng, who facilitated a workshop on mental health and coping mechanisms for challenges we face in our daily lives, including gender-based violence (GBV). It was an enriching and educational day for all members, who were able to engage deeply and reflect on issues that many had silently struggled with. She emphasized the importance of mental health, explaining that just like you care for spiritual and physical well-being, it is equally crucial to prioritize psychological well-being.

On Sunday November 23, the church commemorated the ongoing GBV awareness campaign in support of the Women of Change SA initiative, which stands firmly against the rising cases of killings, assaults, and injustices experienced by women and children. The congregation wore black and purple to publicly affirm our support for this movement.

Representatives of Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital Complex addressed the congregation, outlining the realities of GBV and sharing statistics from their professional experiences. They emphasized the alarming number of women and children hospitalized due to GBV and stressed the critical importance of seeking justice and standing firm against all forms of violence and abuse.

“We stand against GBV. We refuse to remain silent while this crisis continues. We will not allow patterns of injustice to shape our stories. We will persist in our struggle until justice, truth, and accountability ring louder than falsehoods.”
