  • Tragedy in Orkney

    Klerksdorp Record, Orkney - The two men who died last week trying to open up a blocked sewer line in Orkney, were identified as Sammy Mangaleso Pule and Mojalefa Piet Medupe (38).

    They were overpowered by methane gas while trying to clear a blocked manhole in Shakespeare Street on Wednesday October 15. Matlosana Fire and Rescue were called to the scene to retrieve their bodies. According to Col Adele Myburgh, police spokesperson, a third man who noticed they were in trouble and tried to rescue them, were also overpowered by the toxic fumes and rescued by his father. He was hospitalised after the incident.

    Klerksdorp Rekord, Klerksdorp - Die Demokratiese Alliansie (DA) het ernstige kommer uitgespreek oor wat hulle beskryf as “voortdurende onstabiliteit” binne die Matlosana Munisipaliteit se administrasie. 

    Volgens ‘n verklaring deur die party, het interne magstryde tussen die Munisipale Bestuurder,  Lesego Seametso, en die Finansiële Bestuurder,  Mercy Mpetla, ‘n ernstige impak op munisipale funksionering en dienslewering. 

     

     

  • Cops investigate the cause of crash

    Klerksdorp Record, Orkney - The police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after one of the injured passengers in a motor vehicle accident last week, died in hospital.

    Another victim is still in hospital with serious injuries. Brig Sabatha Mokgwabone, police spokesperson, said the accident happened on Thursday October 16 on the R502 between Orkney and Vaal Reefs.
