Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The SA National Blood Service (SANBS) honoured their donors last week at the donor awards that was held at Vintage Affair.

This annual event forms part of the SANBS’s nationwide donor recognition awards, where individuals across South Africa are acknowledged for their incredible long-term commitment to blood donation Cheryl Katz, donor committee member and local Rotarian, acted as Master of Ceremonies.

 

SANBS recognised donors who achieved a wide range of remarkable milestones - from 50 units to more than 300. Each person honoured demonstrated years of commitment, returning time and again to give something many take for granted. The top awards went to Pieter Nel with 275 donations in his lifetime, Louis Laas is on 300, Forrester Dreyer also on 300, Ronald Lees on 325 and Rudi Peens, also on 325.

Donors who reached 200 units and higher were awarded gold-framed certificates and medals, marking their exceptional dedication. 
Others who reached 50, 75, 100, 125, 150 and 175 units also received meaningful certificates. 

Twins Marina and Roelien Coetzee, well-known local hospital staff were honoured for donating 150 units each.
