Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - There is new blood in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Mayoral Committee.
This week, Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipal’s Executive Mayor, Nikiwe Num, announced she is reshuffling her mayoral committee. This comes after Rose Thabanchu, became the new Chief Whip in the Matlosana Municipality. Num excused her from her position as MMC in Budget and Treasury. Cllr Wendy Makhate, MMC of Community Services, was also excused from her duties and will continue as a PR Councillor in council.
The following adjustments to the Mayoral Committee were further announced: MMC Lesego Molapisi moves from Corporate Services to the Budget and Treasury Office, a new MMC, Lebogang Itebogeng, will lead the Corporate Services Directorate, a new MMC, Thabiso Lekgari, will lead the Community Services Directorate, MMC Zanele Mphafudi remains in the Planning and Infrastructure Directorate, MMC Dinah Matsapola remains in the Office of the Executive Mayor (in the Special Programmes Portfolio), and Alderman Raymond Mampe remains in the District Economic Development Directorate.
Mayor Num highlighted that the reshuffle signaled a renewed commitment to public service and ushering in of a generational mix that blends institutional wisdom with fresh innovation.
She expressed sincere gratitude and appreciation to both outgoing and continuing members of the committee, for having served with diligence and commitment.
In her closing remarks, she requested the committee members and officials to put the needs and challenges of the community at the centre of their work. “Members of the Mayoral Committee, your mandate is clear: lead with integrity, serve with purpose, and deliver with urgency.”
