  • Two kids orphaned after dad’s murder

    Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The recent killing of a widowed father in his home in Songloed sent shockwaves through the city. At the time of going to press on Wednesday November 26, the police confirmed that nobody has been arrested for the murder of Matloko Moitshane (54). He was killed in the early hours of Friday November 21 after suffering a gunshot wound to his chest during a home invasion. Robbers gained entry through a bedroom window and woke the dad and his children. That is when the nightmare started. Lentswe was told that his 12-year-old son witnessed his dad being shot in their living room. Moitshane worked as a qualified nurse in the maternity ward of Klerksdorp Hospital.
     
  • Help identify this potential rapist

    Lentswe, Kanana - The police request the community’s assistance in locating and identifying a man who is a rape suspect. On August 19, it was reported to the police that a 15-year-old victim was raped by an unknown man, armed with a knife. She was walking home in Ext 4 at about 18:30 when he approached her. The man is dark in complexion, with dark eyes, medium in height and built. He was wearing a white cap and a white t-shirt and spoke Setswana. He is estimated to be about 25 years-old or older.

     
  • Fake UIF claim lands trio in court

    Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Three men appeared in the magistrates court in connection with a fake UIF claim. Simphiwe Dube (22), Fekeza Mathe (36), and Mathews Pitse (48) appeared in the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday November 19, facing charges of fraud.  The trio were arrested by members of the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation. Two of them are employed by the Department of Labour in Klerksdorp. According to Lt Col Tinyiko Mathebula the claim was submitted in October 2019. The claim of over R53 000 was processed and paid to the claimant. However, investigation revealed that the claimant was never an employee of the company he claimed to have worked for.
