Community fights castor bean invasion
Ithuseng Agroecological and Tsholofelo Clinic Committee members are leading a local campaign to remove the invasive castor bean plant - protecting food security, health, and jobs. Clean-up operation in the CBD
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The Matlosana Municipality conducted a special clean-upĀ
operation in the CBD on Friday July 4. Despite many businesses closing their doors to avoid compliance checks, several shops were issued fines for non-compliance with fire regulations. During the operation, two undocumented foreigners were taken into custody and two vehicles were impounded.
Brutal attack lands two in jail
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Two men who brutally attacked Jerry Moitoi in an Orkney restaurant last year, were sentenced to life imprisonment in the Klerksdorp Regional Court this week. Camera footage inside the restaurant capturing the assault was instrumental in their conviction. On Wednesday July 2, the NPA welcomes the life sentences handed down to Paseka Motlhabe (40) and Mveleli Notshozi (40). The two men were convicted of the brutal murder of 35-year-old Moitoi. He was murdered on April 28 last year. Both of the accused were drinking at the restaurant when they accosted the deceased.
Winter camps in full swing in NW
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The North West Department of Education has rolled out its flagship Winter Camps Programme for Grade 12 learners across the province. A total of 124 camps have been established catering to 31 159 learners. The camps are designed to assist learners in revising critical subject content and bridging learning gaps ahead of the final examinations.
