Lentswe, Mahikeng - The North West Department of Education (NWDoE) has announced the extension of the Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI) Phase V contracts until December 31. This extension, which replaces the previous November 30 termination date, means that Education Assistants and General Assistants will now work a full six-month term, bringing the province in line with other parts of the country.
Missing since November 10
Lentswe, Koster - The police in Koster request community’s assistance in locating the 23-year-old Pauline Serongwane, who resides in Senthumule Section. She was last seen by her cousin on November 10. According to Const Thuto Bobelo, police spokesperson, a search was conducted around Koster, extensive investigations were done and all leads were followed up with no success. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a grey top with a pink T-shirt underneath, black cargo trousers and black tekkies/sneakers. She is dark in complexion, has a tall and slender body and has braided hair. Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts can contact the Investigating Officer, Sgt Sello Khumalo, on 082 416 3045, your local police station or Crime Stop on 0860 10111.

Lentswe, Kanana - The police request the community’s assistance in locating and identifying a man who is a rape suspect. On August 19, it was reported to the police that a 15-year-old victim was raped by an unknown man, armed with a knife. She was walking home in Ext 4 at about 18:30 when he approached her. The man is dark in complexion, with dark eyes, medium in height and built. He was wearing a white cap and a white t-shirt and spoke Setswana. He is estimated to be about 25 years-old or older.
Fake UIF claim lands trio in court
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Three men appeared in the magistrates court in connection with a fake UIF claim. Simphiwe Dube (22), Fekeza Mathe (36), and Mathews Pitse (48) appeared in the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday November 19, facing charges of fraud. The trio were arrested by members of the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation. Two of them are employed by the Department of Labour in Klerksdorp. According to Lt Col Tinyiko Mathebula the claim was submitted in October 2019. The claim of over R53 000 was processed and paid to the claimant. However, investigation revealed that the claimant was never an employee of the company he claimed to have worked for.
