Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Local Christian church leaders have joined hands with a common purpose: to seek divine guidance through prayer and fasting for the upcoming elections on May 29.
Church leaders are calling upon their congregations, as well as the wider communities, to join in a concerted effort to intercede for our communities and country. Commencing on Sunday May 19 up to the election (10 days), congregants are invited to participate in fasting and prayer.
Health MEC opens cathlab at Tshepong
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Health MEC Madoda Sambatha visited Tshepong Hospital last week to officially open the CathLab, oncology unit and nuclear medicine unit. The hospital has been administering Nuclear Medicine since July 2023 and so far 557 patients have received nuclear treatment.
Taxi drivers, SAPS clash
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - A confrontation between taxi drivers and members of Klerksdorp SAPS last week, caused traffic delays on the N12 through town. It all started when a tambaai driver went to the police station on Thursday morning May 9 to report an assault and when the police officers arrived at the taxi rank to attend to the complaint.
Mayor Tsolela on sick leave
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The public announcement this week by the Matlosana Municipality that Executive Mayor James Tsolela is on leave due to fatigue was met with astonishment by political parties. The DA in Matlosana said it is “just another ANC trick to dodge accountability’’. Cllr Portia Burrel said it is interesting that the mayor is “fatigued’’ after document surfaced that allegedly implicate him in fraudulent payments.
Nick Mapheele, spokesperson in the office of the mayor, said he will be on leave until after the election.
“The decision for leave comes after the mayor consulted his medical doctor who diagnosed him with fatigue. The mayor has been overseeing the provision of municipal services since he assumed his position without any rest.
Shoes for the needy
The Interdenominational Prayer Women Association in Kanana gathered on May 9 at Arefenyeng Primary School with other denominations of Jouberton and Khuma to give away school shoes to the children who are less fortunate. The gathering was led by their President, Roseline Tshite. They invited Apostle TD Mofokeng for words of encouragement to the school. He is the leader of KCC Kanana Council of Churches.
