Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The police apprehended nine suspects in connection with robbery, fraud and kidnapping cases during the termination of project “Robocop’ that commenced in 2021. A multidisciplinary team entailing Organised Crime, Commercial Crime, Crime Intelligence and Public Order Police (POP) were involved in the operation on Monday night April 15.
Mayor refuses to resign

Last week, Cllr James Tsolela refused to fell on the proverbial sword, despite the ANC provincial executive committee (PEC) recalling him and staff in his office confirming his resignation on Friday April 12.
A letter by the PEC circulated in Klerksdorp, where Mayor Tsolela is dismissed and instructions given to suspend CFO Mercy Phetla whose name once again was mentioned in a corruption scandal.
Police warn against bullying
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The South African Police Service in the province is concerned about the recently reported violent incidents at schools in the province that needed police intervention since the beginning of this year.
Bus transporting learners overturns
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The North West Department of Education arranged for counselling for the learners and teachers who were on the bus that overturned near Hopetown while they were traveling back from the SA school’s championship in the Western Cape.
MEC Viola Motsumi met the athletes and teachers upon arrival back in North West. She was accompanied by a delegation from the Employee Health Wellness, and provided much-needed psychological support to the learners and teachers who were involved in the traumatic incident.
Matlosana CFO in spotlight again
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - It has come to light this week that the fraud-accused Matlosana CFO is implicated in yet another scandal.
Mercy Phetla, chief financial officer (CFO), is implicated in yet another alleged fraudulent payment of R3 million following her arrest for fraud and corruption by the Hawks earlier this year.
On Tuesday April 9 some employees from Matlosana Municipality protested outside the municipal building calling for her suspension. The police monitored a peaceful march that followed.
