MAHIKENG MAIL - MAHIKENG: Mahikeng Local Municipality on Monday this week launched the Cisco Cybersecurity Awareness Session at the MafiHub Cisco EDGE Center in partnership with the Mafikeng Digital Innovation Hub (MDiHub) and Cisco Country Digital Accelerator (Cisco CDA), aimed at equipping young people with essential digital skills for the modern economy.

The partnership was introducing a major youth empowerment initiative: 1 000 fully sponsored seats on the Cisco Networking Academy (NetAcad) platform for the Mahikeng Local Municipality. These free, self-paced online courses cover globally in-demand skills in Cybersecurity, Net-working, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence, Software Development, and more.
The Socio-Economic Development Directorate of the Mahikeng Local Municipality, as a champion of the Smart City project for Mahikeng, will be collaborating with the Mafikeng Digital Innovation Hub to recruit 1 000 candidates for this exciting opportunity.
The awareness session will include a live introduction to Cisco’s global career certifications (eg CCST, CCNA CyberOps, etc), demonstrations from Cisco instructors and engagement from local industry partners.
This program is part of a broader initiative to address youth unemployment, stimulate ICT entrepreneurship, and expand access to professional digital learning resources in underserved communities.
