BONUS - PHOKENG - A suspected ATM bomber, who has been positively linked to an ATM bombing incident in Vryburg last year, has been traced and arrested in Phokeng, just outside of Rustenburg.
According to a statement released by the North West police, police in Phokeng left no stone unturned in the successful arrest of a suspect on Friday, 16 January, in connection with the said ATM bombing incident.

Constable Thuto Bopelo, North West police spokesperson, said preliminary investigations revealed that Crime Intelligence received a tip-off regarding the whereabouts of a male suspect linked to an ATM bombing that occurred in October 2025 near Vryburg in Reivillo.
Members of Crime Intelligence and Provincial Crime Combatting Team acted swiftly on the information received and traced the suspect to a residential address in Monakato Slovo Section in Phokeng. The 29-year-old male suspect was immediately arrested and charged with the ATM bombing.
He was expected to make his first appearance before the Vryburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 19 January.
Meanwhile, the Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo commended the police on the unwavering efforts to eradicate explosive threats within communities and securing public safety.
