BONUS - PHOKENG - The Community Development Unit of the Department of Health and Social Development Services (HSDS) at the Royal Bafokeng Administration Office has successfully trained 30 individuals as Nail Technicians in partnership with Planet Nails. This initiative, under the Community Empowerment Programme, aims to tackle unemployment by equipping disadvantaged community members with skills for self-sustainability.

Participants from villages such as Mogono, Luka, Kanana, Mabitse, and Tlapa underwent the training, which sought to empower them to start their own businesses and improve their livelihoods. The programme aligns with the unit’s broader mission to enhance quality of life through skills development, food security, and NGO support.
The Food Security Programme promotes household backyard gardens and community nutrition centres, while the NGO Support Programme strengthens coordination among NGOs in the Royal Bafokeng Nation (RBN). Meanwhile, the Community Empowerment Programme connects individuals with skills opportunities, fostering an inclusive and supportive community.
Planet Nails was commended for delivering high-quality training, leaving participants enthusiastic about their newfound skills. The long-term vision is for graduates to register businesses, generate income, and sustain their families.
"This training is life changing. I can now take care of myself and my family," shared one participant. The Royal Bafokeng Administration continues to drive impactful programmes, ensuring sustainable development for its people.
