    Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - A fully-grown hippo can weigh more than 2 tonnes. Hitting one in the middle of road while you are approaching at 120 km/h is like hitting a wall, and could easily be fatal.

    A car salesman had a narrow escape on Thursday July 24 while he was travelling from Wolmaransstad to Klerksdorp at about 23:00. He crashed his car while swerving to avoid a hippo standing in the middle of the road.

     

     

     

     

     

     

  • Klerksdorp men still missing

    Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The two men found murdered and dumped near Pietermaritzburg are not Christiaan van Blerk and Donovan van der Walt.

    A social media post caused quite a stir earlier this week when it was rumoured that the two men found brutally murdered are the two men from Klerksdorp who went missing more than three weeks ago. Col Adele Myburgh, police spokesperson, confirmed that the two men found are not the two missing Klerksdorp men.

     

  • Guesthouses closed in CBD crackdown

    Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - In a municipal clean-up operation last week in the CBD, the Matlosana Municipality shut down four guesthouses for not meeting legal standards, casting a spotlight on unregulated accommodation.

    The municipality did not disclose the names of the guesthouses but according to photographs taken during the operation it looks like the guesthouses are located in Bishop Desmond Tutu Street (former Park Street). In addition to the business crackdown, the operation also led to the apprehension of two undocumented foreign nationals, who have since been handed over to police. Five businesses also had their electricity disconnected due to overdue accounts.
