Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The Rotary Club of Orkney had the pleasure of hosting DG Jacques Venter and his wife Lynda, at their Vocational Awards evening.

The awards evening is where the Rotarians give recognition and appreciation to community members for outstanding work done in the community.

This year, the Jouberton Youth Foundation was honoured for the impactful work they are doing to support the elderly, orphans, and the needy. They are making a difference in the lives of many. Rotary President Ronel Strydom said their commitment to serving weekly meals through a soup kitchen and organizing youth meetings demonstrates a genuine dedication to making a positive difference in their community.

The weekly programs of the foundation are a great initiative, and ensure that activities remain focused and effective. The Saturday empowerment programs for young boys and girls from ages 7-18 are crucial for nurturing the next generation. The aim is to provide them with tools and knowledge to overcome challenges and build a brighter future.

Rotarians Pres Ronel Strydom and Geoffrey Abrams handed over the certificate of appreciation to the Jouberton Youth Foundation. Ref Fr John Paul Nweke, the founder and Kagisho Moremane were present to receive the award.

At the event, Strydom used the opportunity to portray the considerable contributions the club has made to the Kosh community in a video where one could not but be impressed by the work done to the benefit of so many.
