Klerksdorp Record, Kanana - The community of Ext 5 is devastated by the death of Maditaba Morakile Balatseng (35).
This mother of two passed earlier this month in hospital after she was burnt alive by her husband. She was buried last weekend. Her family is now calling on supporters to help them stop the accused from getting bail.
“We would like to urge the public to support us and protest in front of Orkney Magistrate’s Court. No woman deserves to die like that. Remember, today it’s her but what if tomorrow it is someone else’s child.’’
Klerksdorp Record was told how a scared Maditaba fled to her mom’s house after she and her husband had a fight on June 27. He caught up with her there, assaulted her mother and then poured petrol over her before striking a match. She was burnt alive and suffered horrible injuries before she died in hospital.
Tebogo Balatseng was arrested for killing his wife. He appeared in court last week and is expected to apply for bail on Thursday July 17. “We must stand up against this act of violence against women and children. We would really appreciate your presence, especially males. Please stand up against this man getting bail,’’ the family pleads.
The police confirmed that they are investigating a case of murder.
