Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Miss Klerksdorp Chenique Terblanche is in Egypt where she is participating in the Miss Intercontinental beauty pageant.
Miss Intercontinental is a major international beauty pageant, running since 1971, where delegates from around the world compete for the title.
The current queen is María Cepero from Puerto Rico (crowned December 2024). The 2025/2026 competition is currently underway in Egypt, featuring contestants from approximately 70 countries vying for the crown, celebrating beauty, culture, and global unity with a focus on empowerment.
Chenique, a beautiful 20-year-old from Klerksdorp, is holding her own on the international stage.
For her it was a dream come true winning the title of Miss Klerksdorp last year and to now perform internationally has blown her mind. She has been competing in pageants since she was a little girl and consider this to be the cherry on top. “It is a massive experience and huge honour to have been selected for this prestigious pageant. It feels like I’ve been working my whole life to prepare for this. I am so grateful for all the support from my home town. Thank you.’’
She left South Africa on January 14 for the two week long competition that will culminate in the crowning ceremony on January 29. In this time, delegates compete in various rounds, including national costume, swimwear, and evening gown.
According to Zee Dyson, owner of the Miss Klerksdorp pageant, the Miss Intercontinental competition is considered to be one of the top 6 pageants in the world, right up there with Miss Universe and Miss World. “Chenique is a worthy contender and I cannot be more proud of her. She is shining among the other delegates.’’
Zee was involved in training and preparation of Chenique before she left for Egypt. She is currently awaiting entries for the Miss, Mrs and Teen Klerksdorp titles for 2026/27. Entries close on March 2. You can follow Chenique’s journey on Facebook or Instagram.
