Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Students of Ryu Kyu Karate competed at the Platinum Martial Arts & WUKF Provincial Challenge Championships, held in Rustenburg at the Excalibur Boutique Hotel.
Sensei Nathen Olivier was one of the big drawcards with the Semi Contact Low Kick 16-17 Years Championship Title on the line. As the New Semi Contact Low Kick champion for 2025 he also received gold for the Semi Low Kick 13-16 years, gold for Semi Contact Close Combat 16-17 years, silver for Close Combat 13-16 Years, silver kata, bronze kumite, and bronze for grappling. The event saw 312 competitors.
Nathen is second on the Kihapp Ranking List. Senpai Marko Blignaut received gold for kumite; silver for kata; silver for point sparing, and silver for Continuous Sparing.
Tumi Kidamile received gold for Kumite, and bronze for kata and he also served as a table official.
Ruben Else received silver for kumite, Kaylee Emdin received bronze for kata and bronze for kumite (also served as a table official), and Lwazi Skhosana received silver for kumite.
RKG Karate placed overall seventh on the Kihapp Rankings with six students out of 15 dojos that took part.
Nathen had a great year with 11 gold medals, eight silver, five bronze with five national titles and two international Titles. The Dojo took 34 gold, 21 silver and ten bronze medals.
