Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Lawns bowls can be great fun and playing the game for a good cause can be even more fun. The Rotary Club of Orkney is hosting a Charity Bowls Day at Klerksdorp Bowls Club on July 20.

This event aims to bring together the business community for a day of fun, friendly competition and fundraising for important charitable causes. As a non-profit organisation they would like to offer support to the Klerksdorp Old Age Home and other Rotary-approved sustainable projects and therefore the proceeds of this bowls day will be donated to add smiles to the faces of those who are less privileged than ourselves.

Only 36 teams (4 players/team) can be accommodated. The new “Whattabowl” format will be used. Don’t worry. It will be explained on the day.

Rotary International’s theme for 2024/25 is “The magic of Rotary” and the club will appreciate it if the teams would name and dress-up to bring some magic such as fancy dress, to the bowls day.

Prizes for the most original team name and the most creative dressed team will be awarded. Any contributions towards prizes for the day, sponsoring a team of four players or advertising on the bowling greens will be appreciated.

The entry fee is R2 000 per team of four players or R500 per person. This includes green fees, bowls, a welcome drink, dinner and lots of prizes. They offer advertising opportunities with 18 rinks available for advertising purposes at R500 per rink.

For bookings and sponsorships contact Marius Koenig on 082 229 8473 or Irene Raath, 083 701 3691. Contact Ronel Strydom on at 082 336 9337 for general enquiries.
