Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Four local swimmers have entered the Midmar Mile Charity 8 Mile Swim in KZN to raise funds for a charity called Happy Bundles.
The Midmar Mile takes place between February 6 and 9. The 8 Mile Swim is on February 6 and 7, where swimmers swim four miles per day.
According to Dwayne Kriek, one of the swimmers, the group of friends swim the Midmar Mile every year in memory of a dear friend, boyfriend and son, Justin McLean who passed away some years ago. Justin’s father, Kenny, is part of the team.
Each team member must raise a minimum of R10 000. There is a funding profile for each member. Funds are completely for this charity alone.

KBC ladies win gold
Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - During the recent NW Bowls trips competitions Klerksdorp Bowls Club Ladies outplayed all opposition in the quest to gold.
The competition was played over two weekends with the final games taking place in Potchefstroom.
Under the captaincy of Sega Mokoto the team excelled in all their games and walked away with the title of NW Trips Champions and the gold medal.
In the men’s division the team of Johan van der Heever managed to win a bronze medal in a strongly contested competition.
PC is Afrikakampioen
Klerksdorp Rekord, Klerksdorp - PC Swanepoel het in Desember aan die Kickboxing WAKO Afrikakampioenskap deelgeneem en het die Afrikatitel verower. Die toernooi het in Gauteng plaasgevind.
Hy het twee goue medaljes gewen en verower die Afrikatitel vir o/63kg. Die jongman is die huidige Suid-Afrikaanse kampioen en vierde op die Wêreldranglys.
Goeie uitslae vir plaaslike skippers
Klerksdorp Rekord, Klerksdorp - Die Trans Agulhas, bekend as die wêreld se moeilikste opblaasbootwedvaart, is ‘n jaarlikse geleentheid wat langs Suid-Afrika se suidelike kuslyn plaasvind.
Die 35ste uitgawe, geborg deur Six Gun Grill, het plaasgevind van 28 tot 31 Desember. Drie spanne van Klerksdorp en omgewing het deelgeneem en hul stemme behoorlik dikgemaak in die resies waar opblaasbote ongeveer 700 km oor vier dae moet aflê.
One stroke decides Nedbank Golf Challenge
Klerksdorp Record, Pilanesberg – The Nedbank Golf Challenge title belongs to an American, but the crowd was rooting for a young South African called Aldrich Potgieter. Johannes Veerman won the event with one stroke after edging out Potgieter in a thrilling finish on Sunday December 8. Veerman closed with a 69 for a total of five under par, and then watched as Potgieter, finishing behind him and tied for the lead on five under, bogeyed the final hole.
