Klerksdorp Midweek, Potchefstroom - This week the Potch Conservatory presents an experience of French music with a South African premiere. This concert will take place at 18:30 on Tuesday March 12. This captivating concert features a talented trio of musicians, Laetitia Orlandi, Johan Ferreira, and Liesl van der Merwe, including piano, oboe, and bassoon. This ensemble will take audiences on a mesmerizing journey through the enchanting world of French classical music, featuring timeless compositions and a South African premiere.
Programme Highlights:
- Francis Poulenc Trio (New Edition): A rare and exciting opportunity to witness the South African premiere of the new edition of the Francis Poulenc Trio. This unique performance will be based on a second manuscript by Poulenc, dated March 16 1928, offering a fresh perspective on this beloved work.
- Debussy’s Piano Trio in D Major (Arranged for Oboe, Bassoon, and Piano): Explore the rich and evocative sounds of Debussy’s Piano Trio as it’s reimagined for oboe, bassoon, and piano. The third movement, “Andante espressivo,” will transport listeners with its lyrical beauty and emotional depth.
- Lalliet Tersetto Op 22: Delight in the harmonious melodies and intricate interplay of oboe, bassoon, and piano in Theodore Lalliet’s Tersetto Op 22. This piece showcases the trio’s virtuosity and musical synergy.
- A South African Premiere: “After the Rain” composed by Burkali: Experience the excitement of a South African premiere as we introduce South African audiences to “After the Rain.” This contemporary work promises to be a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation, taking listeners on a journey through modern musical landscapes.
