Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - The 98th Comrades Marathon is in the bag and the winners are famous faces and close to home!
Gerda Steyn won the women’s race and she is a farmer’s daughter from Bothaville! The ever-smiling “blonde assassin” ran most of the race in second place, waiting for the time to strike. She won her fourth Comrades in five hours, 19 minutes. Tete Dijana, a security guard working on the NWU Mahikeng campus, won his third Comrades in a time of five hours, 25 minutes and 28 seconds.

Members of the Stilfontein Kickboxing Club attended the South African Kickboxing Championships in Newcastle recently. The students excelled with Chuan van Niekerk obtaining fourth place for Points fighting and a bronze medal for Light Continuous Fighting, Vian Booyse obtained fifth place for Points fighting and fourth place for Light Continuous Fighting, Vinay Kitching a silver medal for Points fighting and a bronze for Light Continuous fighting and Shando van Niekerk fourth place for Points fighting and a bronze for Light Continuous Fighting.

Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - Rustenburg’s Impala Rugby Club visited the Markotter Stadium over the weekend. The team played against the local Klerksdorp rugby club on Saturday May 17. Both matches were very competitive. The second team returned home with a win (7-5). The match between the first teams was a hard, competitive high-scoring match and Impala triumphed 42-24.

Elize Beukes ran her 200th parkrun at the Matlosana Bird Parkrun on Saturday May 17. She also volunteered 50 times at the event.
