Sensei Nathen Olivier from Ryu Kyu Goju Karate and also a learner at Hoërskool Schoonspruit, was invited by the founder of Tokkon Shotokan Kancho, Albert Venter, to compete at the international championships in Ireland. Nathen was crowned the new Tokkon Shotokan International Kata Champion, weapon kata champion, as well as kumite champion for his age group and blackbelt division.
Line up for the Vlakvark Run
Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - The Vlakvark Run is a legendary race through the Faan Meintjes Nature Reserve. The Klerksdorp Marathon Club will present the 19th edition on September 20, and entries are open. Pre-entries close on September 18. The race takes competitors through the reserve where they can spot various wildlife, and competitors from all over the country travel to Klerksdorp to compete in this unique run.
Yellow belts for Krav Maga
The practitioners of Krav Maga graded and achieved their yellow belts in the sport. They are Sarel Carelse (coach), Winé Kruger (coach), Brendan Olley, Leonard Mark Boersma, Anuska Kruger, Kelly Giovanni and (front) Chandré Daphné van Rensburg and Estevan Muller.
NWU students ace a win in tennis championships
Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - Tennis SA’s provincial competition was held on July 26. The National Club Championships took place at the North West Tennis Club, with tennis players from around the province in attendance.
