Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - The audience roared with laughter when Cinderella’s glass slipper was replaced with crocs during Hoërskool Wesvalia’s production of the well-known fairy tale. The school’s Drama Academy performed Cinderella the Musical on April 30 and May 1 in the school hall.
The classic story has two abusive stepdaughters who are invited to the royal ball, while their sister has to stay behind. Her rich godmother appears and grants her wish to also go to the ball, providing a sports car, servants, dress and perfectly fitted “glass slippers’. Liena van der Merwe, Director of the Drama Academy played the fairy godmother.
Anchen Hodgson and Shané Einkamerer could be seen as Cinderella (on different nights) and the prince was played by Juwan van Staden and Ruan van Antwerpen.
