Klerksdorp Midweek, Wolmaransstad - The man who disappeared with a vehicle while test-driving it, was arrested and he has appeared in court. Karabo Lipson Matlala (23) was arrested by Wolmaransstad police on the N12 outside Wolmaransstad on October 13. He was charged with vehicle theft and possession of a stolen vehicle. Col Adéle Myburgh, police spokesperson, said Matlala was busy test driving a vehicle when he allegedly drove away without the salesman.

“He allegedly pretended to be interested in buying a vehicle. Whilst test-driving the vehicle, he stopped at a shop on the N12 in Klerksdorp and asked the salesman to buy them a cool drink.

“Then he allegedly drove off with the vehicle. The vehicle was successfully traced, stopped and recovered,” she said.

Matlala appeared in the Wolmaransstad Magistrates’ Court on October 15, on charges of possession of a presumed stolen vehicle and vehicle theft.

He was remanded in custody until Friday October 24 when he will apply for bail.
