Bridget Kleu completed her 350th Parkrun on Saturday March 16. That is the equivalent of walking from Nelspruit to Cape Town (1 750 km). She is the event director at the Matlosana Bird Parkrun and she did her first Parkrun at Makadu on October 11 2014. She has also volunteered 350 times. Measles cases surge globally
Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - Measles, a highly contagious airborne virus, is on the rise global-ly, presenting a significant threat to public health in South Africa. According to research conducted by both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), it is envisaged that by the end of 2024, over half of all countries - about 105 will face a high or very high risk of measles outbreaks.

Suspect tries to bribe cop
Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - Members of the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation arrested a 38-year-old suspect in Klerksdorp for alleged corruption. According to Lt-Col Tinyiko Mathebula, spokesperson, members were acting on information received on Thursday March 14, about a warehouse in Klerksdorp, where illicit cigarettes were allegedly hidden.
Teachers from abroad impressed with students
Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - Douglas Lidén, a music teacher student from the Royal Academy of Music (KMH) in Stockholm, is currently involved with a practical teaching experience at Curro Klerksdorp. Sent by KMH to the NWU, Liden aims to teach music lessons to the learners in the primary school, observe drama lessons and assist Curro Create Sing-It entrants.
