NOORDWESTER – MOLOPO - The Acting Provincial Commissioner of North West, Major General Patrick Asaneng welcomed a life sentence and an additional 25 years imprisonment handed down to Bongani Ntoro (36) by the Molopo Regional Court on Monday, 30 June. 
Evidence led in court revealed that the accused raped four women and the then 12-year-old minor between 2007 and 2010 in Magogoe, Tloung and Seweding villages in the policing precinct of Mmabatho.

The court heard that Ntoro would in committing the crimes, cover his face to conceal his identity. 
Following intensive and meticulous inves-tigations, which were applauded by the court, Ntoro was linked with the evil deeds through forensic DNA leads. The long arm of the law caught up with him at Mahikeng Taxi Rank on Friday, 17 May 2024. The state ensured that the accused was denied bail and he was in custody until he was sentenced. 
The accused was sentenced as follows: Count 1 and 3: Housebreaking with intent to rape: six years direct imprisonment on each count. Count 2, 4 and 8: Rape Life imprisonment. Count 5: Sexual Offence: six years direct imprisonment. Count 6 and 7: Robbery aggravated: 15 years direct imprisonment on each count. The sentences will run concurrently with life imprisonment.
Major General Asaneng thanked the Inves-tigating Officer, Sergeant Tshepiso Makunye, Reservist Constable Makabe, the Prosecutor, Advocate Kefentse Diseko and all other role players for their concerted and tireless efforts.
