NOORDWESTER – MOCOSENG - The police, Men for Change structure, in the Ngaka Modiri Molema District, called women from 23 police stations together to appreciate, empower and motivate them on Friday, 12 September at Roadside Chesanyama in Mocoseng village. Women were acknowledged for the vital role they play in the work place and society, as the female gender has faced subjugation and systematic oppression throughout history. Women dressed up in colourful, bright tutu skirts.

The ceremony commenced with an encouraging Bible verse and prayer by Captain Kefilwe Kgositau, followed by Lieutenant Colonel Kenaleone Phajane, who welcomed all attendees.
Captain Collin Lekwene introduced and recognised all guests. In rendering the purpose of day, Captain Modiehi Masudubele said: “Women are always hard at work, even during Women’s Month, hence Men for Change deemed it fit to arrange this event for women to unwind, destress and relax.”
The District Commissioner, Major General Mmatlhapi Mmolawa, the Women’s Network Champion, graced the event with her presence. The Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation, Old Mutual, Sanlam and Capital Legacy were also in support of the function.
Khethiwe Gabanakgosi-Dibe, a motiva-tional speaker from KGPP wellness program, addressed women on mental resilience. She emphasised the importance of mental health, being able to bounce back amidst life challenges and assured every woman of their worth. She added that: “Women must know how to pour into their cups in order to be able to pour into others.”
Lerato Phoko also motivated attendees on the subject: A woman is influential. She gave tips on how to be confident and brave as a woman.
The programme ended with indigenous games (kgati, diketo, morabaraba, dibeke) led by Mr Patrick Bantseke and Itumeleng Bereng from the Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation.
Last but not least, lunch was served and Lieutenant Colonel Portia Mabaso thanked everyone for their attendance and participation.
A special word of appreciation was directed to Men for Change, in ensuring that the occasion was carried out successfully and to the District Commissioner for her ongoing support of this event.
