Intertoy Toyota in De Boer Street, Brits, recently launched the Legend 55 and invite all Hilux-enthusiasts to come and experience this impressive special edition Legend 55.
The Hilux Legend 55 marks 55 years of Hilux-excellence, a name that is synonymous with reliability and strength.
From farms and construction sites to urban streets and long family road trips, Hilux has been the dependable companion for generations. Its unmatched track record has secured its place as South Africa’s best-selling bakkie of all time.
The Hilux Legend nameplate first appeared on SA roads in 2004, when the Legend 35 was released, a special-edition model celebrating Toyota’s longstanding reputation for toughness and durability. The Legend 40 followed in 2010, the Legend 45 in 2014, the Legend 50 in 2019 and now the Legend 55.
The extraordinary design of the Legend 55 model comes standard with all the bells and whistles: a 9-services/90 000km service plan and a 3-year/100 000km warranty. In addition, customers can purchase service/maintenance/warranty extensions via the comprehensive Toyota dealer network (220 outlets).
All Toyota owners can also sign up for a personal MyToyota profile, a platform for owners to quickly and conveniently access all information and services related to their vehicle. Additionally, all new Toyota vehicles are fitted with a device that opens up a whole new world of features. Simply opt in and you will have access to in-car Wi-Fi capability (with a complimentary 25Gb), along with a host of supplementary connect services.
This new special-edition has two body styles – the versatile Xtra Cab or the family-ready Double Cab.
The cabin of the Hilux Legend 55 highlights its dual character: robust and refined. Attention to detail is clear in elements such as chrome-branded scuff plates, heavy-duty rubber floormats and sport seats with embroidered headrests. These touches highlight its limited-edition status while reinforcing the vehicle’s practical, hard-wearing nature.
The exterior of the Hilux Legend 55 makes an immediate impression. Exclusive badging, a protective front bash plate and a secure lockable roller shutter balance style with utility. On double cab models, distinctive features such as a puddle light logo projection and a shark-fin antenna add to its modern appeal. Functionality is not forgotten: a rubberised load box, branded styling bar, detachable tow bar, and roof ornament round out a package that is as capable on the job site as it is on an outdoor adventure.
Performance remains a hallmark of the Hilux nameplate. The Legend 55 is powered by Toyota’s trusted 2.8-litre GD-6 turbodiesel engine, paired with a refined 6-speed automatic transmission. Producing 150 kW and 500 Nm of torque, it provides a confident balance of efficiency and strength – whether overtaking on highways, towing with ease, or tackling demanding terrain off the beaten path.
To complete its presence, the Hilux Legend 55 is offered in a range of 10 exterior colours. Options include bold tones such as Dark Green Mica Metallic (photo), alongside classics like the instantly recognisable Sand Beige giving owners the freedom to match their bakkie to their personal style.
