BRITS POS – BRITS - The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Gen Sello Kwena welcomes the arrest of two suspects in connection with the murder of the late Constable Mogoro Clement Makola (31). The victim was shot and killed on Monday evening, 15 April 2024, in Lekgalong village near Marikana outside Brits.
“The suspects, aged 40 and 44, were arrested in Ramochana, outside Rustenburg on Friday, 26 April, during a Crime Intelligence driven operation by Brits Trio Task Team and Marikana Visible Policing,” says Brig Sabata Mokgwabone, SAPS NW spokesperson, after Brits Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) provided the Investigating Officer with information after one of the suspects was identified through fingerprints.

The team arrested the first suspect at a restaurant and allegedly implicated his accomplice who was also arrested at the same place. “On further questioning by the Investigating Officer, the suspect took the team to a house where a 9mm firearm with obliterated serial number, a magazine and four live rounds of ammunition were found.” The suspects who are both Mozambican foreign nationals, are expected to appear in the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 29 April 2024, for murder.
The late Constable Makola, who was declared dead upon arrival at Kanana clinic after being shot several times, was laid to rest in Jane Furse, Limpopo.
