RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - As part of the City At Work service delivery programme, the Directorate of Local Economic Development, in collaboration with the Municipality’s Law Enforcement Unit, conducted a by-law compliance operation along Thabo Mbeki Street in the Rustenburg CBD, on Monday, 14 July.
The inspection, according to the muni-cipality, focused on verifying whether business owners and informal traders held valid business trading licences and adhered to the municipal regulations governing outdoor advertising.

Several businesses were found to be operating in contravention of these by-laws and were issued fines for unauthorised advertising and trading without the necessary business rights documentation, as prescribed in terms of the Rustenburg Local Municipality by-law framework.
To support lawful trading and promote formal economic participation, affected busi-ness owners were issued application forms for Outdoor Advertising Permits and Business Licensing Registration during the operation.
The Executive Mayor, Cllr Sheila Mabale-Huma, was present to provide support to the multidisciplinary team on the ground. She was joined by MMC Cllr Thabang Rampou, responsible for Local Economic Development, and MMC Cllr Karabo Phutu of the Technical and Infrastructure Services Directorate.
Their joint presence demonstrated strong inter-departmental cooperation in ensuring that business activity in the city remains legally compliant and contributes to a safe, regulated urban environment.
