RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Two Rustenburg detectives, Sgt Yvonne Suzan Sikwani (54) and Constable Bontle Mmudi (41) made their first appearance in the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on Thursday last week where they have faced charges of corruption and extortion.
The women were granted bail of R1 000 each and will re-appear before the same court on Friday, 31 May 2024.

The accused were arrested during an undercover operation led by the Provincial Anti-Corruption Unit on Wednesday afternoon, 21 February 2024, after information was received that the duo, whilst investigating a fraud case reported during May 2021, allegedly demanded money on several occasions between October 2022 to January 2024 from the complainant in order to fast track the investigation.
The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, said corrupt action by police members, tarnishes the reputation of the police and will not be tolerated.
He further emphasized that police officials who are involved in criminal activities will face, without doubt, the full might of the Law.
