Klerksdorp Record, Potchefstroom - Fancy a day with some travelling, fine food and wine? Then a visit to the Rooy Food Market in Potch on Sunday October 26 should be in your future.
Potchefstroom’s Van Rooyen Hall will be a hive of activity as the Rooy Food Market takes over from 10:00 until 15:00. Entrance is free, and the line-up has something for everyone: artisan food, cheese, meat, handmade crafts, live music and even a car boot sale.
For this weekend’s event, visitors can also look forward to a special appearance from L’Avenir Wines of Stellenbosch. They’ll be pouring tastings from their mobile setup.
The stalls promise a mix of both the shiny and the sentimental. SS Creations will be bringing stainless steel jewellery, ranging from daisy rings and yin yang earrings to necklaces that could probably survive a small apocalypse.
On the other side of the hall (or maybe in the parking lot, depending on who arrives first), the car boot sale will be happening. Think “one man’s junk is another man’s treasure” in its purest form: radios, records, ornaments, chairs, and whatever else fits into the back of a bakkie.
Live music will run alongside the browsing, and the food stalls are set to serve the kind of eats that keep people lingering a little longer. From sweet treats to hearty savoury bites, it’s less about fine dining and more about filling up while enjoying the market’s atmosphere.
