Klerksdorp Record, Potchefstroom – The shooting of two local businessmen rocked the university town this week. The 73-year-old shooter is under police guard in hospital, following the shooting of Johnathan Fourie (52) and the attempted murder of his 55-year-old brother, Deon. The Fouries are directors of Chubby Chick where the incident happened on Monday morning November 10. The name of the suspect has not been released and the motive for the shootings is unknown.
According to Col Adéle Myburgh, police spokesperson, the elderly man was in a meeting with the business management, when he suddenly took out a firearm and fired several shots, hitting the brothers.
“Security personnel reacted and restrained the suspect after he was shot. Johnathan was declared dead on the scene by EMS, while Deon was admitted to hospital. The suspect will appear in the Potchefstroom Magistrate’s Court on charges of murder and attempted murder, soon after his release from hospital,” said Myburgh.
