Klerksdorp Rekord, Klerksdorp - Die Senior Akademietoernooi in jukskei is onlangs op Kroonstad gehou. Dit het op 24 en 28 Februarie plaasgevind.
Noordwes het baie goed gevaar in die B-afdeling. Die span het goud in die spanafdeling, silwer in die dubbels en goud in die trips (driespel) gewen.
Vier spelers is gekies vir die akademiespan.
Eerskomende naweek (8 Maart) is daar weer groot jukskei in Klerksdorp met 23 spanne wat ingeskryf het.
Atlete oes sakke vol medaljes
Klerksdorp Rekord, Potchefstroom - KHS is goed voorberei op die Super Inter die week in Pretoria en spog met 71 medaljes na die dr KK-kampioenskap verlede week.
KHS se atlete het 36 goue medaljes verower by die distrikkampioenskap. Voor in die koor is Jenna van Dyk en Dean McAslin wat elk drie goue medaljes gewen het. Hulle het albei die hekkie items gewen. Henru Human, Hloni Motaung en Chante Fourie het twee goue medaljes elk gewen.
Close call for NWU Eagles
Klerksdorp Record, Potchefstroom - FNB Maties upset FNB NWU Eagles in a close-fought encounter at the Fanie du Toit Sportsground on Monday February 24.
Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus was also in attendance as a guest of the NWU but even his charm did not help the Eagles to a win. A man of the match performance by Maties’ flyhalf Christiaan van Heerden Smith inspired the away side to a victory.
Medals for karatekas
Ryu Kyu Goju Karate took part in the North West World Union Karate Federations Championships (WUKF). It was the first North West WUKF Championship sanctioned by Martial Arts South Africa (MASA). The team consisting of three karatekas did very well. They ranked sixth out of ten dojos. The team brought back four gold, two silver and one bronze medal. Sensei Nathen Olivier (black belt) won silver for combat point sparing, silver for traditional kumite and bronze for kata, Tumi Kedamile (left, yellow belt) achieved gold for kata and gold for kumite, and Joseph (Jnr) Kedamile (white belt) won gold for kata and gold for kumite.
Varsity Cup off to a shaky start for NWU Eagles
Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The Varsity Cup started last week, but the Ikey Tigers match against the NWU Eagles was postponed as the teams were warming up after a student protest at the Green Mile.
The match was rescheduled to be played on Tuesday February 18 at an undisclosed venue. Although the FNB NWU Eagles gave it their all on the field, FNB UCT Ikey Tigers took the win with a final score of 32-23.
