Lentswe, Jouberton - The JB Marks District of the South African Communist Party will be conducting the memorial lecture of late activist, Comrade Thabo Ephraim Sithole (Mtshali). The District Executive Committee (DEC) in partnership with the family of Cde Thabo Sithole will be commemorating his life through the Memorial Lecture with the aim of reminding the community about the role he played. He was one of the activists who were arrested in the mid-1980’s, was detained without trial under the state of emergency for political activities in pursue of advancing the lives of the workers and the poor. He suffered persecution and torture by the apartheid regime.
Cde Thabo Sithole played a significant role of protecting the workers and the poor, thus he was identified by the SACP as the Western Transvaal Regional Organiser and was sent for political training in Moscow, Russia. He committed his time in building the South African Communist Party in the region and the province at large. Sithole lies buried at the Heroes Acres at the Old Jouberton Cemetery.
The people of Matlosana and members from different branches / voting district are informed of the Memorial Lecture which will be conducted on September 14 at Ithuseng Primary School in Jouberton. The Memorial Lecture will be addressed by the Main Speaker from the higher structure of the South African Communist Party, Cde Grace Pampiri-Botma. It will start at 13:00.
