Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The City of Matlosana announced the appointment of Cllr Farouk Tagaree as the new Chairperson of the Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC). He accepted this position in a Special Council meeting held on Monday June 23.
This appointment is made in accordance with Section 79(2)(c) of the Municipal Structures Act. The council can choose to appoint a member from the ruling or an opposition party.
“Cllr Tagaree brings extensive expertise in Public Accounts to the role, with a strong background in governance and accountability. His appointment is expected to strengthen the oversight function of the committee and reinforce the Council’s commitment to transparency, responsible governance, and effective service delivery for the people of Matlosana,’’ a statement issued by the Municipality reads.
