Lentswe, Stilfontein - The illicit mining task team continue to pounce on criminals. Last week the team followed up on information and ultimately caught six men red-handed stealing diesel at a dwelling near Stilfontein on Thursday morning June 27. They were arrested and charged with theft. Col Adéle Myburgh, police spokesperson, the accused were allegedly caught stealing diesel from two construction vehicles as well as a light delivery vehicle on the premises.

During the arrest, the police seized 20 drums, containing a total of 500 litres of diesel.

Lindelwa Nkwanyane (31), Simiso Ngcomphalala (29), John Rasereka (64), Amos Novela (57), Piet Leeu (34) and Olebogeng Sejako (41) appeared in the Stilfontein Magistrates’ Court on Friday June 28, on a charge of theft. They were remanded in custody until their second court appearance on Friday July 5.

The Police Provincial Commissioner, Lt-Genl Sello Kwena, lauded the team for their tireless efforts in the fight against illicit economic activities.
