Lentswe, Klerksdorp – A Jouberton family is getting ready to bury the 8-year-old Omphemetse Khalapa who fell ill after eating chips bought from a neighbour in Ext 23. According to her older sister, Boitshoko, the child and two of her cousins fell ill after eating the snacks they bought from the friendly neighbour who sell snacks, biscuits and cigarettes from her home. “Five of them went to buy the chips on Friday afternoon, and on Saturday morning three of them were sick. They were vomiting and had diarrhea.’’
Registration drive for tuck shop owners
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - A registration drive for tuck shop owners kicked off in Khuma this week. The Local Economic Development Directorate and the Public Safety Directorate of the City of Matlosana launched the registration drive at the Khuma Community Hall. The initiative aims to formalize the operations of tuck shops while educating owners on critical health and safety practices. The drive is part of a larger strategy to promote food safety, protect public health, and build trust between tuck
shop owners and their customers, said Tebogo Ramone, acting spokesperson of the municipality.
March against GBVF
Lentswe, Ventersdorp - The North West Department of Health in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District with different stakeholders has carried out a march against Gender Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) in Tshing, Ventersdorp.
The march was led by the District Chief Director, BP Maboe, with officials from the department of health, SAPS, NPA, JB Marks Local Municipality and the Department of Social Development.

Don’t allow strangers in your home
Lentswe, Klerksdorp – The Klerksdorp Safety and Security forum once again warned residents to be more vigilant of crime after an elderly woman fell victim to robbers who pretended to be municipal officials. According to a statement published on Facebook, the incident happened on Monday December 9. Apparently the lady allowed the men into her home when they said they are working for the municipality and needed to check the prepaid electricity meter. They then proceeded in robbing her. The police’s Col Adele Myburgh could not confirm the incident but said it is wise to never allow people in your home.
