Lentswe, Jouberton - Modupe (Aka Record) Zacharia Lepholletsa passed away recently. He was one of the people who started the meter taxi Tambaai Association in 1999. He is also known for his boxing career! He started boxing in 1954 at Wolmaransstad, where he was born. He climbed into the ring with big names such as Simon Thulo and Pangaman Sekgapane. He continued his boxing career with Kid Molly in Cape Town in 1967. In 1969, he hang up his gloves after winning his last match. He also fought in Durban and Johannesburg. His famous boxing name was Gentle Tiger. Record was a family man, with 12 children and twenty grandchildren. His wife passed away in May this year.
Heritage month ends on a prayer
Lentswe, Jouberton - The Holy Family Anglican Church ended Heritage month on Sunday September 30 by celebrating different cultures. It was also time for the congregation to enjoy a meal together and the church’s men did not shy away from dishing up a wholesome meal because the men fellowship took up the cooking challenge during September. Uplifting matrics at farewell event
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Ponatshego Ya Baswa, a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting less privileged learners in NW, hosted a highly successful matric farewell charity event. Nearly 200 guests attended the event on September 19 at the Protea Hotel. It was fully funded through donations, offering learners an unforgettable experience and valuable support for their academic and personal journeys.
Attention all ex miners
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The tests to provide ex-mineworkers and their beneficiaries with access to compensation benefits for occupational lung diseases and other social protection funds are ongoing at Westvaal Hospital. According to the project coordinator, Tsietsi Letsedi, this project started two and a half years ago and 128 000 ex miners and their families have been assessed. “We have a list and do track and tracing. Our estimate is that 148 000 ex miners still have to be assessed. This is for all ex miners; across all mines,” he said.

The event was attended by dignitaries from Provincial departments of Sports, Arts and Culture, Education, City of Matlosana, North West University and more persons contributing to the heritage, arts and craft fraternity. Dignitaries could not stop singing songs of praise of the event that united the communities of Matlosana. Local artists and crafters showcased their talent through dance, song, display, marketing and selling of art work.
