Lentswe, Klerksdorp - In a bid to improve and advance men’s overall health, the North West Department of Health in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District has a plan in place to cover the influx of numbers of walk-in clients visiting different facilities in the district for Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) services.
After various oversight visits by the district office, the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District has identified areas where an intensified programme has been put in place to increase capacity and ensure the majority of clients are covered during the winter school holiday.
Unallocated meters in NW
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Eskom customers in NW are urged to check their meter numbers to see whether they are registered with Eskom.
According to the Eskom media desk, since Eskom embarked on the Key Revision Numbers or the Token Identifier Rollover Programme, they have noticed that there were unallocated meters in existence, with insufficient details on the database. The Token Identifier Rollover Programme is a prepaid electricity metering industry undertaking to ensure that all prepaid meters that will roll over to a new Token Identifier Code not later than November 30, are correctly recoded.
Another daytime shooting in Pienaarsdorp
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The man who was shot in killed inside his car in another daytime shooting in Klerksdorp was identified as Vusi Mnisi.
His friends called him Grootman. Klerksdorp Record reported last week that police are investigating the murder and attempted murder of Mnisi (38) and another man (45) who were shot in Pienaarsdorp on
Wednesday June 12.
Lt Col Amanda Funani, police spokesperson, said gunmen opened fire
on a silver Audi outside a home in Lombaard Street. Mnisi was killed and the passenger in the vehicle was rushed to hospital with several wounds.
The incident happened at about 18:10. Funani said the motive for the attack is still unknown and no arrests have been made yet.
Investigation is underway.
Mayhem in Kanana
Lentswe, Kanana - Calm has returned to Kanana after all hell broke loose with several shots and explosions earlier this week. These incidents occurred after 23:00 on Monday June 17. A resident contacted the newspaper and said he is hearing various shots and explosions. He sounded petrified and said it is terrible, he is fearing for his life.
Provincial police confirmed the situation and said that an unknown group of people set cars alight and fired shots at passing cars.
Keep eyes open for remote jammers
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Anyone who has fallen victim to remote jamming will know that sinking feeling when you open your boot and there’s nothing there – no laptop, no handbag, no gym shoes. You look around, dumbfounded. My car was locked. How did this happen?
According to Charnel Hattingh, Fidelity Services Group, Group Head of Marketing and Communications, remote jamming is nothing new but it’s not getting old for criminals either. In fact, it is on the increase.
