Bek-en-klouseer ernstige bedreiging - TLU SA
Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - Bek-en-klouseer het ontwikkel tot veel meer as ’n veeartsenykundige probleem.
Dit is besig om ’n ernstige bedreiging vir Suid-Afrika se voedselsekerheid, landbou-ekonomie en landelike bestaansmiddele te word.
Volgens TLU SA lê die kern van die krisis by ’n regulatoriese stelsel en staatskapasiteit wat vir hierdie omstandighede aangepas is nie, en dit moet dringend reggestel word. “Bek-en-klouseer is buite beheer omdat die stelsel wat moes beskerm, nie funksioneer soos dit moet nie,” sê Bennie van Zyl, hoofbestuurder van TLU SA.

Traffic cop injured in crash
A Matlosana Traffic Officer sustained serious injuries after her vehicle collided with a trailer in OR Tambo Street on Thursday evening, January 22. The officer was transporting a young man, suspected of driving under the influence. It is speculated that the officer may have skipped a red traffic light, leading to the collision. The trailer was behind a bakkie. The passenger in the patrol car was unharmed and was released from holding cells in the early hours of Friday morning, January 23. No other injuries were reported. The traffic officer, whose identity was not made public, was transported to hospital.

Don’t get caught with fake tenders
Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - The North West Department of Human Settlements cautions members of the public and service providers about an ongoing scam in which individuals are falsely informed that they have been appointed by the department to install solar geysers in low-cost houses.
The scammers impersonate officials of the department to solicit bribes or upfront payments from unsuspecting individuals.
