Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - Two municipal ward by-elections will take place in Klerksdorp on Wednesday October 11.

The by-elections in wards 16 and 17 will be contested by eight candidates from four political parties. Both these wards were won by the DA in the 2021 local government election but became vacant when the councillors resigned earlier. 

Ward 16 (La Hoff, Elandia, Elandsheuwel and Flimieda) will be contested by four candidates. 



Lee-Ann Scott of the Freedom Front Plus, Dominique Takang of the ANC, Jackie Basson of the DA and Mantshabele Martha Moremi of the EFF. Voting stations will be at Laerskool La Hoff and NG Kerk Flimieda.

Ward 17 (Wilkoppies, Doringkruin) will be contested by four candidates. Chandré de Bruyn of the Freedom Front Plus, Phakoe Horizon Moleko of the ANC, Gerhard Strydom of the DA and Tshepo Cecil Magome of the EFF. Voting stations will be at Hervormde Kerk Doringkruin and Hoërskool Wesvalia.

On election day, voters in each ward are encouraged to go to the voting station where they are registered to cast a vote for candidates they want to represent on the city council.
