Klerksdorp Midweek, Ikageng - In an attempt to empower coaches, SAFA Dr Kenneth Kaunda region hosted a D - Licence coaching course. It took place from November 18-25 at Ikageng Stadium. Amongst the attendees were novice coaches and former professional players such as Bongani Cashibe and Gert Schalkwyk of Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs respectively. The theoretical part was completed in a practical part where soccer clinics were conducted using young boys and girls from Ikageng township.

According to the regional secretary, Freddy Dunjane, who is also the NW provincial referees chairperson, these courses are the beginning of other series of their nature to be held in this region.

Elsewhere in the region, Stilfontein Real Hearts FC were trounced by NWU FC, from Mafikeng Campus by 2 goals to nil. This mouth-watering ABC Motsepe clash took place at Khuma Stadium on November 25.

Though the match went from end to end with Mafikeng boys having a better tactical match approach, it was the lads from Mafikeng who drew blood first in the first half. The visitors sealed their effort by making it 2 nil in the second stanza and went home pocketing 3 points.
