Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Another Nigerian with links to the drug underworld in Klerksdorp was arrested last week.

Kenechi Ndukaife Atuchuku (45) appeared in the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on Monday September 15, facing charges of possession of and dealing in drugs. His court appearance emanates from a lengthy investigation conducted by the Hawks with the guidance of the National Prosecuting Authority’s Organised Crime Component into allegations of dealing in drugs in and around Klerksdorp.

According to Lt Col Tinyiko Mathebula, spokesperson for the Hawks, Atuchuku was allegedly caught selling drugs to a customer in an undercover operation that was conducted in 2022.

Following an investigation, a warrant of arrest was issued and the cops booked him on Friday in Klerksdorp.

Klerksdorp Record was told that Atuchukwu is linked to a case involving his fellow countryman, Michael Okoya, who also appeared in court last week alleged dealing in drugs.

Atuchukwu was remanded in custody and was set to appear with Okaya in court again on Wednesday September 17.

The North West acting Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Brigadier Georgia Moos and the Director of Public Prosecutions in the North West, Dr Rachel Makhari, have welcomed the arrest and subsequent court appearance of the accused.
