Matlosana honours Class of 2023

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The Office of the Executive Mayor hosted the 2023 Matric Excellence Awards in partnership with Harmony Gold Mine and North West Department of Education at Klerksdorp Recreation Centre last week.

The ceremony was held to recognize and commend matriculation learners who achieved outstanding academic performance against all odds. The event was attended by the Executive Mayor of the City of Matlosana, Cllr James Tsolela, Members of the Mayoral Committee (MMCs), management of Harmony Gold Mine, representatives from the Department of Education, and parents/guardians of the learners.

KHS bring die geesbeker terug

lerksdorp Rekord, Potchefstroom - KHS se tweede plek by die afgelope naweek se NWU Inter in Potchefstroom het nie ‘n demper op hul gees geplaas nie. Die blou golf het darem weer met die geesbeker teruggekeer na Klerksdorp.

Hoërskool Rustenburg is as die algehele wenner aangewys met KHS ‘n kortkop agter hulle in die tweede plek. Potch Gimnasium wat die inter vir jare gedomineer het, het derde geëindig.

Nog ’n rekord

Osego Ramohlabi van Laerskool Goudkop het nou al ‘n paar nuwe rekords opgestel in byna elke atletiekbyeenkoms waaraan hy sover die jaar deelgeneem het. Die vinnige buksie het nog ‘n nuwe rekord in die 80m vir seuns o/7 opgestel by die APO byeenkoms wat op Vrydag 9 Februarie by KHS gehou is.

Drummie needs help

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Boitumelo Lekgwenyane Molaoloa is a vibrant 12 year-old who is in Grd 7 at KPS.

She has been a drummie since 2017 and she loves the sport.

Now she has received an invitation to participate in the World Cup of Majorette Sport in Agen, France from July 18-21. It, however, is very expensive.

Her mom, Seipati, is asking for assistance to make this dream of her daughter come true. “Please assist us by donating as the total cost of the whole trip is R48 000 and we struggle to afford it,” she said.

The family has been selling food over weekends and will be selling food at No 9, Ext 1 Jouberton on Saturday February 17 to also help

School gets hockey equipment

Klerksdorp Record, Alabama - The Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality, through the Office of the Executive Mayor donated hockey equipment to Alabama Primary School.

Ward Councillor Farouk Tagaree who officially handed over the equipment to the school on behalf of the District Executive Mayor Nikiwe Num, said the challenge of delivering sports development in South Africa’s townships persists.
