Klerksdorp Record, Stilfontein - The SA Hunters Frontier Shooting Club celebrated a standout year during its annual year-end award ceremony, and no one shone brighter than 14-year-old Stefan Jacobs, whose exceptional achievements have captured the attention of the local shooting community.
Stefan walked away with two of the club’s highest honours, being named Best Junior Shooter of the Year as well as the Best Men’s Shooter of the Frontier Club. His ability to outperform not only juniors but also seasoned adult competitors has earned him widespread admiration and respect.
His success this year extended well beyond the local club. At the MDS National Shooting Championships held in Gauteng, Stefan competed in his first-ever national event. Facing talented young marksmen in the o/12–o/16 junior division, he delivered an outstanding performance and was awarded Best Junior Shooter in his age category. His consistency and precision throughout the competition also earned him the coveted title of Overall Best Junior Shooter at the Nationals.
Behind Stefan’s success stands the guidance of his grandfather, Jan Vorster, a well-known and respected firearm trainer in the Stilfontein and Klerksdorp area. Vorster, who has trained countless local shooters, is also the founder and owner of Young Guns, a shooting club dedicated to developing young talent. Under his mentorship, Stefan has grown from an eager beginner into one of the region’s most promising young marksmen.
According to Vorster, his grandson’s accomplishments reflect dedication, discipline, and passion for the sport. Members of the Frontier club describe Stefan as focused, disciplined, and exceptionally mature for his age - qualities that continue to drive his rapid rise in the sport.
