Klerksdorp Record, Stilfontein - Two young marksmen from Stilfontein are making waves in the local sports shooting community after receiving multiple awards at the SA Hunters Frontier Shooting Club’s annual year-end ceremony.

Nine-year-old Marthinus Labuschagne and ten-year-old Kristiaan Jacobs, both proud members of the Young Guns Club and the SA Hunters Frontier Club, brought home top honours in their respective age groups.

The boys train under the guidance of their grandfather, Jan Vorster, a well-known and respected firearm trainer in Stilfontein and Klerksdorp. Vorster is also the founder of Young Guns, a youth-focused shooting club dedicated to teaching firearm safety, discipline, and competitive shooting skills in a structured, responsible environment. His mentorship continues to shape a new generation of disciplined young sport shooters.

Marthinus Labuschagne impressed with his steady hand and focus, earning a gold certificate in Rimfire Shooting and a silver certificate in Air Pistol Shooting. His achievements highlight his rapid growth in the sport and his commitment to mastering safe and accurate shooting techniques.

Not to be outdone, Kristiaan Jacobs delivered an exceptional performance across multiple categories. He received a gold certificate in the 20m Centrefire Pistol event, demonstrating remarkable control and precision for his age. Kristiaan also earned two silver certificates - one for Rimfire Shooting and another for Air Pistol Shooting.

The boys’ achievements have brought pride not only to their family, but also to the Young Guns Club, which continues to build a reputation for developing skilled, responsible young shooters.

According to Vorster, the boys’ accomplishments reflect dedication, discipline, and a shared passion for the sport. “They work hard, they listen, and they are always eager to improve. I thank God that He blessed them with a great talent,” he said.
