Klerksdorp Rekord, Klerksdorp - Noordwesters het amok gemaak die afgelope naweek in Pretoria by die Gauteng jukskeiklubkampioenskap.
Nege spanne het deelgeneem en sewe het medaljes gekry. Drie spanne van Hak en Steek het silwer gekry, klub Eland van Swartruggens ‘n silwer en Lichtenburg se Splash het ‘n silwer en ‘n goud gewen.
‘n Gekombineerde span het brons gekry. Sowat 72 spanne het deelgeneem en Noordwes het baie goed gedoen én kan nie wag vir volgende jaar nie.
Die volgende nasionale kompetisie op die kalender is die juniors wat 8-12 Desember aan die Junior SA’s deelneem.
A feast of purple Speedo’s
Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Neighbourhoods, office parks, sports clubs and schools around South Africa turned a vibrant shade of purple as thousands of daredevils took to the streets to raise awareness about prostate and testicular cancer.
In the North West, groups of fearless, Speedo-clad runners were seen in Mahikeng, followed by a mid-afternoon run in Potchefstroom. Rustenburg saw a run organised by the RWFL Club, and Friday October 31 concluded in Klerksdorp with runners from the Klerksdorp Marathon Club donning their purple speedo’s also taking to the streets.
Running the world’s deepest marathon
Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Eddie Makhetha, a member of the local marathon club, travelled to Sweden to participate in one of the world’s most unique marathons - it is run underground.
Some 55 runners lined up on Saturday October 25 for an extraordinary challenge: to run the deepest marathon ever run. Makhetha was one of five South African mining professionals who took part.
Classic Farouk
Farouk Dangor competed at Classic Car Saturday in Cape Town on October 25, and finished on the podium. He was placed third in his category, behind the wheel of his iconic BMW.
Colourful collaboration at colour run
The Lion’s club’s colour run was a day filled with fun, laughter, and vibrant colours. This event at the Trail Park on Saturday October 25, was held in support of children with cancer, and they thank all for the participation that helped made a real difference. Special appreciation goes to local schools who brought the colour magic to life: Saamtrek, Goudkop, Curro School, KHS and Wesvalia. KHS took the colour run very seriously.
